Uncle James, A Servant of God, To Us: A Devotional Based on the Book of James

The book of James has for centuries caused problems for the church hierarchy. Some felt it took away from the teaching of salvation by faith alone; Martin Luther disliked this little book so much that in his original translation, he took it out of the rest of the New Testament and put it in an appendix in the back! There is controversy about which of the three James in the Bible wrote this letter: whether James was trying to tone down Paul’s message, whether or not it was written only to the Jews and not to the budding church; whether it was too practical to be of any spiritual import as Luther thought. James is a book of social justice; a book of unity, written to emphasize the duty each of us has to accept each other and to travel the path Jesus laid down for us. If you want to discover what the Bible teaches about social justice and equality, James is the place to start. This little book of devotionals, based on James’ letter to us, helps you achieve clarity, understanding of our duty to others and may just change your life.Read more
