They Lied to Us First: Reclaiming Truth Beyond the Bible and the Quran

They Lied to Us First: Reclaiming Truth Beyond the Bible and the Quranis a bold and unflinching exploration of how colonial religions reshaped African spirituality, identity, and cultural memory. In this revolutionary work, Zeamie Emanuel dismantles centuries of theological programming and reveals how Christianity and Islam were used not only to control land and labor—but to colonize the very soul.Drawing on historical context, spiritual philosophy, and cultural critique, this book exposes the roots of ideas like “eternal rest,” “fornication,” “sin,” and “salvation,” showing how these concepts were strategically weaponized to suppress ancestral knowledge and spiritual autonomy. Emanuel contrasts these imposed doctrines with the holistic, balanced, and life-affirming systems of African spirituality—systems rooted in reciprocity, community, and connection to land and ancestors. This is not a rejection of faith—it is a return to spiritual truth that predates empire. For readers ready to reclaim their divine inheritance, decolonize their beliefs, and reconnect with the sacred wisdom of their lineage,They Lied to Us Firstis both a mirror and a map. Prepare to remember what was buried. Prepare to reclaim what was always yours.Read more
