The Perfect Family: With So Much to Hide

…until you looked beneath the surface, and the ugly, hidden realities appeared. How is it possible for two utterly broken people to survive a marriage and build a family while fraught with deep wounds from the past and often crippling stresses from the present? Especially when hidden agendas are at work, and power and control patterns run the show? The Sullivans were seen as “the perfect family” by most people in their community and church family. Ann was known as a stellar mom, and Tim, a successful farmer, landowner, and premier home builder. Beneath the surface lay serious conflicts, painful memories, and long patterns of deception. As years passed and six daughters were born, more marriage and family tensions surfaced as underlying issues from childhood sexual abuse were exposed along with bulimia, suicide, long-term drug use, and a gambling addiction. How the Sullivans’ lives headed for a serious crash, only to be turned around through a dramatic series of events, is a story that will shock you…but in the end, inspire you to believe. There is hope for every one of us and for every marriage and family, as told in this love story recounted with raw honesty.Read more
