The City of Recaredo

In a divided and convulsed Hispania, after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the foundations of a new nation are forged through palace intrigues, fratricidal wars, and the collision of two opposing faiths.Hispania, 6th Centurytransports us to the turbulent reign of King Leovigild, a Visigothic monarch determined to consolidate his rule over a fragmented peninsula. His ambition drives him to found a monumental city in honor of his son Reccared, a symbol of unity and dynastic continuity. But in the shadows of the throne stirs Hermenegild, the king's eldest son, whose conversion to Catholicism defies the kingdom’s dominant Arian creed and threatens the fragile balance of power.Between fanaticism and reason, between warrior honor and imperial ambition, unfolds an epic drama where human passions shape the course of history. With a powerful and meticulously researched narrative style, the novel blends real events with historical fiction, immersing the reader in the Visigothic world as rarely portrayed—brutal, majestic, and tragic.More than a tale of dynastic strife, this is a reflection on faith, power, and the destiny of a people. Through kings, monks, warriors, and maidens, the story reveals the fragility of alliances, the strength of conviction, and the cost of betrayal.Hispania, 6th Centuryis an essential work for those who seek to understand the roots of Hispanic identity, in an age when the fate of a civilization hung upon the will of a few men and the designs of heaven.Read more
