Paradise Redux: Death on the Isthmus

Maya Warwick thought she had a grip on Paradise with its cobblestone streets, colorful bougainvillea, and sunsets perfumed with rain and jasmine, until Roberto Carvajal—an enigmatic figure from the past—stepped back into her life and enlisted her to untangle Jax Wakefield’s romantic mess. When Jax dies suddenly, Maya discovers her internet romance has global undercurrents of fraud, betrayal, extortion, and menace. Maya’s search for the truth pulls her into a world of entertaining, entitled, and clueless expats living in a tangled web of land scams, corruption, money laundering, cartel violence, and a long list of other misdeeds that are whispered about or viewed as entertainment. Every revelation brings her closer to the realization that danger is never far away in this “last undiscovered Paradise.”Paradise Redux: Death on the Isthmus is a searing, satirical, and humorous thriller about crime and corruption, illustrating how far we go to preserve illusions and perfect images in the midst of political chaos and societal collapse.Read more
