Life Principles From the Book of Psalms: Psalms 63-118

It is often noted that Psalm 118:8, “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man,” is the middle verse of the Bible. While one could debate the details of that claim, it is certain that this volume of Bishop Myron Powell’s series highlights the Psalms that are not only at the very central core of the Bible, but that equally must be hidden within the very core of our spiritual being. With masterful wisdom, Bishop Powell not only takes us on an incredible journey through Psalms 99-118, but he also gives us the opportunity to see the entirety of God’s work of redemption through the lens these Psalms offer. From the grandeur of creation to the consummation of all things in glory, these Psalms and Bishop Powell’s commentary paint for the believer the vast landscape of the greatness of God’s eternal story. The lessons run the gamut from Genesis to Revelation, from man’s lowest lows of sin to his greatest triumphs of conquest. But eclipsing man’s journey from sinner to saint are the incredible lengths to which God shows Himself the author of the story, the main character within the story, and the champion of us all who live the story. Therefore, this study of Psalms is essential for the believer. You need to know that wherever you are in your faith journey, whatever the circumstances of your current scenario, there is not only a God at work but one who is intimately invested in your spiritual success. His requested reward is that most human expression of praise, worship, thanksgiving, and adoration. Is it any wonder that these are the most common themes woven throughout the Psalms?Read more
