Lick The Spoon

By now, Dr. Robert Urban should probably know better. After all, this is histenth book—and six of them have beennational bestsellers.(The other four? Let’s just say they are… “still top notch doorstops”)But inLick the Spoon,Urban proves once again that nobody else can make you laugh, cringe, and nod in painful recognition quite like he can. His collection of stories and observations from his life aren’t just funny—they’re the kind of funny where you feel like you’re right there with him, muttering,“Oh no, Rob… you didn’t.”Except you’re secretly glad he did, because now you don’t feel as ridiculous about the timeyouhad to Google “how to get duct tape out of hair.”This book is an ode to optimism, even when optimism feels like an extreme sport. Urban finds the humor in everyday disasters—family chaos, midlife mysteries, the weird optimism of thinkingthis timeyour diet will stick—and delivers it with the honesty of a guy who’s not above embarrassing himself if it means you’ll laugh.Because that’s the magic of Robert Urban: he makes the ordinary absurd, the awkward hilarious, and the cringe… kind of beautiful. So grab a seat at the table, laugh until your sides hurt, and—against your better judgment and warnings by the FDA—lick the spoon.Read more
