HEROES THEY FELLED: The Assassinations of Yitzhak Rabin and Anwar Sadat, and the Stillbirth of Peace in the Middle East

Janvier T. Chando provides a succinct and illuminating account of the transformation of men of war into leaders of peace in a region with a chronic history of conflict. The reader comes out from this presentation of the humble origins and rise to prominence of Yitzhak Rabin of Israel and Anwar Sadat of Egypt with a better understanding of the Arab-Israeli conflict, the motivation of the key players, their hopes, their fears, and dreams, as well as the hidden and untold forces compelling the players to seek salvation or damnation. This brilliant narration of the two assassinated heads of state leaves us with a better understanding of why they are so misappreciated in their home countries, the region, and perhaps in history.Read more
