Heroes of World War II: Murphy's Rangers III - Meat Grinder

1944. 1st Platoon, Bravo Company, US Rangers, continues to fight across Normandy, winning battle after battle. Yet despite their losses, the Germans continue to fight back with a savage intensity. To hold out new hope for eventual victory. Jack Murphy stumbles across an intelligence packet that may give the reason for the unexpected resistance, but the brass dismisses it as fake.A so-called ‘wonder’ weapon, the V-2 rocket, has proved less than successful. The primitive guidance system means it cannot hit a target with any accuracy. Until the engineers develop a new system, accurate to within a few yards. Used against the right target, the modified V-2 could change the course of the war. They have found the right target.Against orders, Murphy and a scratch squad of Rangers parachute behind enemy lines to go after the precision-guided rocket. The launch is imminent, and time is running out. With no support from their own side, and a Gestapo dragnet thrown around the region to hunt them down, the odds are stacked against them. Casualties mount, and they are outnumbered by a strong force of SS and Gestapo. With the clock ticking down, they press on to the objective, until success or failure, life or death, can be measured in a matter of minutes.A full-length novel by the bestselling author of many Spec Ops books. These include the popular Grant’s War series, SEAL Team Bravo, Heroes of Afghanistan, Raider, Echo Six, and Devil's Guard titles.Read more
