Data & AI/ML for Scrum Masters: A Guide to the Unique Lifecycle of Data Science and Machine Learning Projects

You are a successful Scrum Master. You are an expert in flow, velocity, and burndown charts. Then you are asked to lead an AI team, and your entire toolkit becomes useless. How do you plan a Sprint when the work is research, not construction? How do you estimate a story when a "failed" experiment is a successful outcome? How do you define "Done" when the deliverable isn't a feature, but a 2% improvement in model accuracy?Welcome to the strange and powerful world of Data Science and Machine Learning.Data & AI/ML for Scrum Mastersis your playbook for navigating this new frontier. This guide uses a simple but profound "puppy training" analogy to help you understand why ML projects are fundamentally different from traditional software development. You will learn to adapt your Agile practice to facilitate a process of scientific discovery.Inside, you will learn to:Master the "Puppy Training" Analogy:Effortlessly explain the experimental, data-dependent nature of AI/ML projects to anyone.Speak the Language of Data Science:Understand the lifecycle and vocabulary of ML, including terms like Model, Algorithm, Training Data, and Inference.Facilitate a Process of Discovery:Learn to manage uncertainty with Timeboxing and frame stories as a Hypothesis to be tested.Make Invisible Work Visible:Champion the critical, often-overlooked work of Data Cleaning and Feature Engineering.Redefine "Success":Guide your team and stakeholders to see the value in validated learning and celebrate the knowledge gained from failed experiments. This book is for Scrum Masters, Agile Coaches, and any leader tasked with guiding a team through the ambiguous but rewarding world of artificial intelligence.Stop trying to fit a scientific process into a construction framework.Scroll up and click "Buy Now" to learn how to facilitate true discovery.Read more
