Between Oceans: Crooks, Creeps, and Crazies on the Isthmus

Life in Paradise evokes images of gentle breezes, palm trees, white sand beaches, exotic flora, and iridescent butterflies. Unfortunately, glitzy ad campaigns omit crucial details. It is only after someone moves to Paradise that they discover the dirty secrets: corrupt bureaucracy, endemic crime, and a cast of oddball characters who could be rejects from a Fellini movie. The CIA recruits Maya Warwick to become the editor of a glossy lifestyle magazine. Her primary function is to infiltrate the expat community to root out certain fugitives. What she discovers is expat life is not only fraught with the usual trials and tribulations, but also murder, theft, fraud, and assault. Her most startling revelation is that the magazine is a devious cover for an entirely different agenda. Welcome to Malpaís, the last undiscovered Paradise in Central America, where nothing is what it seems. This is a continuation of Between Volcanoes -- Love and Revenge on the Isthmus.Read more
